Ayodhya's Revival: Lord Rama's Divine Intervention at Kanak Temple
Ayodhya, located in Uttar Pradesh, India, is a pilgrimage site where Lord Rama was born and is considered one of the largest pilgrimages in Hinduism. Kanak Temple is located in Ayodhya and it is one of the important temples worth visiting in Ayodhya.
In earlier times, Ayodhya was destroyed during the reign of Barbar, the Mughal emperor who ruled India from 1519 to 1523 AD; All the Holy Scriptures and Saints were demolished by the barbarians to establish Mughal rule. During Barbar's reign, the strategy was to eliminate the worship class of Hinduism, Barbar imposed tax rule on pilgrimages, destroyed all the sacred texts, making the society illiterate.
The illiteracy of the people opens the door for the Babur to impose his harsh rule on the society and rule over them.
The morality of Ram's devotees sinks thinking this -
Lord Rama pilgrimage was not saved by God himself, then how can we maintain the value of pilgrimage. The disappointed people gave up hope and started living under the rule of barbarians.
It has been said- “Lord Rama to opt his different form went away from the world for a while”.But no one can rule the God, now the time has come for Lord Ram to again have mercy on the people and bring back the real value of Ayodhya to the society.
Today in the era of 2020, Ayodhya has been reestablished, bringing back the historical values and norms of the precious place of worship of Lord Rama.
For some time now the Kanak temple was losing its popularity and was facing shortage of food and expenses. Swami Ramprashad ji, one of the great priest of Kanak temple, takes care of all the services of Kanak temple.
35 other Mahant saints in temple, lived on donations given by devotees. There came a time when he had to face difficult times. There was a tradition of offering food to the idols of Lord Rama, Goddess Sita along with the other two idols in the Kanak temple.
In the method of worship, it is necessary to meditate on the name of God three times a day. These are three periods – morning, afternoon and evening at sunset.
One day after the morning prayers the priest had no food to offer to the idols and was sad inside. Swami Ramprashad ji sent a saint to the grocery shop of Paltu Seth located nearby.
The saint told Paltu Seth that Swami Ramprasad ji has sent him to bring some food items to prepare food to be offered to the idols in the morning prayers. Paltu Seth refused to give them food on credit. He said that it is difficult for him to withdraw the money borrowed from the saints and I do not think that even after this you will be able to return the money to me.
Saint went back to the temple after narrating the entire incident that happened to Swami ji. Swami ji became sad and dissatisfied, cursing himself for not being able to arrange food for the puja. While narrating the entire incident of Paltu Seth not giving food to the Ram idol, Swami Ram Prasad ji cried and said that until food is not arranged for the idol, we too will not eat food.
For three days only melodious kirtan by Swami Ramprashad ji was offered at the feet of Rama idol. There was no food in the temple and the number of devotees coming was decreasing day by day. Swami Ramprashad ji was going through grief and stress in those days.
On the fourth day, at 1 o'clock in the night, four children knock on the door of Paltu Seth.
At first Paltu Seth resists the idea of opening the door listening the voice of children, but after continuous knocking at the door, Paltu Seth wakes up and sees four children standing outside.
He asked the children;
Why are you knocking on my door?
An elder child very politely said to Paltu Seth;
Pranam Paltu ji!
Swami Ramprashad ji has sent us these 1600 gold coins to give to you! And you have to give them the food that they need for the temple purpose.
Paltu Seth was surprised to see 1600 gold coins wrapped in yellow cloth.
Paltu Seth said this amount is too much as even if we sell all the grocery stores of our locality then also it will be more.
Child replied to Paltu Seth;
"Promise me that as long as you and your business survive, you will provide food for the temple". From now on none of our servants should remain without food. Paltu Seth said that this amount is very high, even if we sell all the grocery shops in our area the amount will be more.
Paltu Seth said, I promise and will deliver the food from tomorrow.
The child replied no, you have to arrange the food items from now on as they have to offer morning prayers, for this you have to go to the temple now to deliver the groceries.
Paltu Seth did the same and went to the temple with all the stuff..
He went to Swami Ramprashad ji and said;
“Swami ji, I am so sorry for my behave, you could have told me this yesterday itself, why did you make so much effort to send the children to my place?”
Swami ji got confused by this statement,
Swami ji asked Paltu Seth, how did you come here and for what purpose?
Paltu Seth said, Swami ji, you
Told those children to tell me to bring things for you.
Swami Ji replied;
"I didn't send anyone"!
Paltu Seth narrates the entire incident of that night while giving back the Pitambur (yellow cloth) to Swami ji. Seeing the yellow cloth, Swami ji said, how did you get this cloth, it belongs to the idol of Ram ji.
Paltu ji said –
Those children gave me gold coins in this cloth.
Swami ji now realized the real meaning of all these incidents and he fell at the feet of the idol of Lord Rama and started crying.
Said to Paltu ji that;
You are so lucky; Lord Rama himself has come to the doorstep of your house.
Those four children were the form of Lord Rama !
Come and sing kirtan with me at the feet of Lord Ram, always thanking him for the blessings he has given us.
Paltu Seth became so enamored of Lord Ram that while thinking, he got the divine vision of Ram and from that very day “Paltu Seth decided to become Paltu Das.”
He promised that from now on as long as I and my family live, there will never be shortage of food in the temple and he dedicated the rest of his life at the feet of Lord Ram temple and writing sacred literature, verses and poems in praise of Lord Ram.
