Guru Arjan Dev & Guru Hargobind Gurbani ji's Legacy

Gurbani was scripted until Guru Arjan Dev Ji Maharaj, the 5th Sikh Guru. The 6th, 7th, and 8th Sikh Gurus did not continue adding to the Gurbani

The 9th Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, composed 57 Shaloks, the exact number needed to complete those left unfinished in the Guru Granth Sahib, owing to his divine insight. Remarkably, he did not include these compositions in the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, choosing instead to write them separately. Similarly, Guru Gobind Singh Ji the 10th Sikh Guru also authored a distinct Granth in poetic form, which he did not incorporate into the Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

The Guru Gaddi (spiritual throne) was passed to Guru Arjan Dev Ji (5ht Sikh Guru) after Guru Ram Das Ji (4th Sikh Guru). Prithi Chand, the elder brother of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, was unhappy with this decision as he believed he deserved the Guru Gaddi. This resentment led Prithi Chand to harbor anger and hatred towards Guru Arjan Dev Ji. Prithi Chand, in collaboration with Chandu (the main conspirator behind Guru Arjan Dev Ji's martyrdom), spoke ill of Guru Arjan Dev Ji to Emperor Jahangir.

Prithi Chand, envious that Guru Arjan Dev Ji had become the next Sikh Guru and noticing that Mata Ganga Ji had not yet been blessed with a child, hoped that his own son, Meharban, would become the 6th Guru.

After a long period, Guru Arjan Dev Ji and Mata Ganga Ji were blessed with a son, who became the 6th Sikh Guru, Guru Hargobind Ji. This blessing came after Mata Ganga Ji expressed her sorrow to Guru Arjan Dev Ji, asking why she, his wife, had not been blessed with a child while he blessed the rest world. Guru Arjan Dev Ji explained that due to her karmic records, there was a delay, and she needed to wait for divine mercy.

Great saints and divine messengers teach us to endure and overcome our karmic debts through devotion and connection to God.

For instance, even Lord Krishna faced many challenges and overcame great powers from childhood, yet he did not interfere with his parents' karmic records by freeing them from imprisonment. This underscores the importance of accepting and resolving our karmic obligations through spiritual practice.

Due to her karmic records, Mata Ganga Ji experienced a delay in receiving the blessing of motherhood. Guru Arjan Dev Ji Maharaj encouraged her to chant God's name. When Mata Ganga Ji tearfully asked Guru Arjan Dev Ji to bless her with a child as he had blessed others, he sympathized with her and offered a solution. He instructed her to visit Birrhd Sahib and meet Baba Budha Ji, who had been blessed by Guru Nanak Ji. She was to serve him humbly and offer him food with pure emotions of getting the bleesings from Baba Budha ji.

Mata Ganga Ji followed his instructions. She went to Baba Budha Ji, carrying chapattis, lassi, onions, and gurd in a basket on her head.

Baba Budha Ji managed all the fieldwork for cultivating wheat crops to ensure a steady supply of food for the sangat, preparing meals in the form of langar. When he saw Mata Ganga Ji approaching in the fields, he was surprised and said, "Mother, you could have called me, and I would have come to you. I am here to serve you. Why did you make such an effort to come here? You could have summoned me, and I would have gladly served you at your feet."

Upon her arrival , Mata conveyed everything to Baba Budha Ji and afterwards Baba Budha Ji blessed Mata Ganga Ji, saying that a supreme child would be born to her by the grace of Guru Nanak Ji. Later, she gave birth to Guru Hargobind Ji, who became the 6th Sikh Guru.

Prithi Chand, envious that Guru Arjan Dev Ji had become the next Sikh Guru and childless, hoped that his son Meharban would become the 6th Guru. Driven by hatred, Prithi Chand plotted to kill Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s child.

He conspired with the cook of Guru Arjan Dev ji’s house to poison young Guru Hargobind Ji. However, the child sensed the danger and knocked the bowl of poisoned curd away, crying loudly. Guru Arjan Dev Ji, knowing everything, instructed the curd be given to a sick dog outside, saying it was time for the dog's salvation.

Guru Arjan Dev Ji told the cook privately, "You have committed the gravest sin by attempting to extinguish the light of Guru Nanak. You will soon face the consequences of your actions." Shortly after, the cook began suffering from severe stomach pain that could not be cured. He endured intense suffering and eventually faced a painful death a few months later due to his actions.

Prithi Chand made another attempt to poison Guru Hargobind Ji by instructing a maid to apply poison to her breast and attempt to feed it to him. However, she was apprehended and confessed to the plan.

Thirdly, Prithi Chand attempted to assassinate Guru Har Gobind Ji Maharaj by placing a large snake in his room. However, by the grace of the great God, Guru Nanak Ji, this plot also failed. As soon as the snake approached Maharaj Ji's bed, it perished instantly. When God protects us, no one can harm us or have any effect on us.

Prithi Chand, the elder brother of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, orchestrated numerous conspiracies out of his desire to secure the Guruship for his own son. After Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s martyrdom in 1606, Guru Hargobind Ji became the 6th Sikh Guru at the age of 11.

After1609, Guru Hargonb singh ji at the very young age start make big wise decisions followingthe uphold after Guru Arjna Dev ji for the betterment for Community, the jahangir did not liked the Guru Hargobind ji ruling at young age and making such wise decisions.

(As the blessings of Gurbani began to spread widely, Jahangir, who sought to enforce Islamic dominance, grew hostile towards the holy scripture written by Guru Arjan Dev Ji. Jahangir summoned Guru Ji and demanded that he include the phrase "Allah is the supreme above all" in the Gurbani.

Guru Arjan Dev Ji, however, firmly replied that Gurbani began with "Ek Onkar," signifying that there is only one supreme God for all, irrespective of religion. Guru Ji then steadfastly refused to alter the sacred text to suit the emperor’s wishes).

Emperor Jahangir, who had troubled Guru Arjan Dev Ji and imprisoned Guru Hargobind Ji in Gwalior jail for three years, later suffered from deep deepresion and couldn't sleep, despite doctors' efforts. Baba Budha Ji and Bhai Jetha Ji prayed to Guru Nanak Ji, asking for justice against Jahangir's cruelty. Baba Budha Ji used spiritual powers (Brahm Agni) that caused Jahangir to have sleepless nights.

Later, Jahangir called upon Mia Mir Ji to seek help with his unbearable suffering.

Miya Meer In front of his entire kingdom reminded him that he had been cruel to Guru Arjan Dev Ji and now he was treating his son the same way. Miya Meer warned Jahangir that if he did not release Guru Ji's son, the situation would worsen, and there would be no way to escape the consequences.

(Miya Meer, a Muslim whom Guru Nanak Ji entrusted with the service of the Golden Temple, was also the one who laid the very first stone for its construction).

Jahangir came to realize his mistake and agreed to release Guru Har Gobind Ji. While imprisoned, Guru Har Gobind Ji formed friendships with other kings by spreading God’s teachings.

Guru Har Gobind Ji made a condition that he would only leave the jail if all the other kings imprisoned with him were also set free. This day is now celebrated as "Bandi Chhor Diwas," a festival observed on Diwali, marking the liberation of Guru Har Gobind Ji and the Rajput kings. Since then, Guru Har Gobind Ji has also been revered as Bandi Chhor Baba Ji.

Upon realizing his mistake, Guru Har Gobind Ji blessed Jahangir with forgiveness for his sins. In the realm of God, when a person seeks forgiveness, all sins are forgiven, guiding them towards the right path.

The reason why the Gurus from the 6th to the 8th stopped writing Gurbani was due to an incident involving Prithi Chand's son, Mehrvan. He falsely claimed his own writings as Gurbani under the name of Guru Nanak Ji. To prevent such deceit, Guru Hargobind Ji decided to halt any further additions to the Gurbani by subsequent Sikh Gurus.

Therefore, after the 5th Sikh Guru, the Gurus from the 6th to the 8th chose not to continue adding to the Gurbani. This decision aimed to prevent the creation of fake scriptures falsely attributed to Guru Nanak, which could distort the teachings of God.
