Back time there is a devotee named Sadna ji. Sadna ji use to be a butcher from his childhood. Sadna ji manages his livings by selling meat.
One day late night the king of the city wished to eat the Goat meat and demanded to eat just a few slice of goat meat. The servant of king went to Sadna ji, as he was one of the known butchers at his place.
Sadna ji woke up seeing the king servant to his house, told by them that;
King has demanded a piece of goat meet.
Back time there was no refrigerator storage system. So the butcher uses to cut the meat and sell that instantly. Sadna ji at the time of cutting the goat for providing meat to the king;
Got cross questioning in his mind that;
“If he cut a small piece of Goat, then how the goat will have to bare a severe pain”,
If he cut full goat then the meat will be wasted,
Sadna ji was also going through minor spiritual changes in his life.
He took a while, n decided to cut the goat’s leg. When he was holding the leg of goat in his one hand and the knife in other hand,
When was about to cut the leg, he stopped again, over thinking and same time the goat turned his neck to see sadna ji.
“The time when sadna ji got an eye contact with goat eyes, his heart gets fluctuating with nervousness, with tear in his eyes for the pain the goat will go to bare after the activity he going to do”.He got pity on goat and decided to leave the butcher and told the servants sent by king that;
“He will not cut the goat and left this occupation of butcher, he will be Saint from now onwards".
The servants laughed on Sadna ji and said you being butcher from childhood now you want to become Saint. Sadna ji left the occupation of being butcher and moved away in the company of Saints, leaving all the pets and animals in the shed free to move.
He has converted himself totally to Saint form outer and inside with in depth Nam chant. After few years, One day Sadna Ji got an internal call for worshiping the Jagantah Temple.
Sadna ji on his way to Jagannath Temple all alone walking by himself, on night got late to find Dharam-shala for him to stay.
He reached a village asking people for any Spiritual place where he can spend a night and will continue his journey to Jaganth temple afterwards. One of the ladies of the village listen the conversation of sadna ji, and offered sadna ji to stay at her place.
The lady was living with her handicap husband who was bed ridden. She welcomed sadna ji,
Sadna ji thanks her for helping him to get shelter for a night.
Sadna ji’s look as a tall and healthy man, the lady ask a question seeing the physic of Sadna ji –
You being 6 feet tall and healthy by physic, have you been to the Saints Company since childhood?
Sadna ji replied;
I have been in the occupation of Butcher and now following the path of Spirituality. The lady offered him the food and asks Sadna ji if he needs and legs massage she can assist her. Sadna ji replied Devi, I am fine. You have already helped me giving me the shelter to stay for a night. I am good.
She took sadna ji to meet her husband, Sadna ji saw her husband was in very bad condition and totally bed ridden.
The woman did not have good/pure feelings internally. She was troubled by lust. She proposed Sadna ji to become his life partner.
Sadna ji replied;
Dev ji, you are married and I am a Saint, I am sorry I do not want to accept what you have offered. She became enraged by her thought process in her mind and decided to kill her husband; Thinking that Sadna ji rejected his proposal because she is married.
She went madly into her husband's room with a knife and killed him by slitting his neck. After killing her husband; she held the knife in her hand and said to Sadna ji;
"I killed my husband, now we can be one".
Sadna ji got astonished, and said;
"I have left all these materialistic activities and am walking on the path of spirituality to attain God."
I deny accepting your wish.
The woman said madly that if you reject my proposal, I will make false allegations against you and tell everyone in the village that you killed my husband.
Sadna ji said that I am not afraid of your false accusations, whatever work you want to do, do it. The woman called all the people living in the village and accused Sadna ji of killing her husband. Everyone threw stones at Sadna ji and took Sadna ji to the king to get punishment for his sin.
The king asked the woman the whole story; The woman told the whole false story to the king;
“That Sadna ji came to her house, he cast an evil eye on me and later killed my husband saying that the house and you are mine.”
The king asks Sadna ji, Do you want to say anything on your behalf?
Sadna ji smiled and said "Whatever is happening is under the will of Jagannath."
Whatever the lady saying is correct.
Everyone there said that you don't want to say anything to protect yourself?
Sadna ji said;
"Either the lady is lying or I am lying.
I am out from all these correct and incorrectness, I am just a soul".
The king did not understand Sadna ji's deep spiritual words and asked him to stop speaking.The king punished Sadana ji and announced the punishment of cutting off both his hands.
Sadna ji said, Maharaj, I really agree with the punishment you have given, please immediately cut off both my hands in front of everyone,these hands have committed sin all their life by cutting the goat.
Sadna ji boht hands got cut,
Tau gun kha satgura, joh karam na naseh,
Shaer sharan kat jaiye , joh jumbak draseeh
“God is not cutting off my hand, rather God is cutting off all the bad deeds I have done so far”.
