The Ultimate Devotion: Angad's Request to Hanuman
Among all devotees, none is considered more fortunate than Hanuman Ji. As the great sage Tulsidas Ji wrote, "Hanuman San Nahi Vadhpaaghi"—none is luckier than Hanuman.
And yet, another great hero, Angad, the mighty son of Bali, possessed unmatched strength. His power was so immense that in the very heart of Lanka, he could place his foot on the ground and not a single soul could move it.
After serving valiantly in Lord Ram's mission, Angad, too, longed to be blessed with the same service and devotion that came so naturally to Hanuman.
When the great war came to an end and the Vanara Sena returned to their homes, Hanuman remained by Shri Ram's side, accompanying him on his journey to Ayodhya.
Before their departure, a solemn Angad approached Hanuman. With folded hands and a heavy heart, tears welled in his eyes as he spoke,
"Hanuman Ji, until this moment, I truly believed I was the luckiest to have been granted the opportunity to serve Shri Ram. But now, as you go with our Lord while I must remain behind, I see that you are the most fortunate of all, for you will stay with him always."
Overcome with a beautiful, selfless devotion, Angad lovingly held Hanuman's hand and made a humble request:
"Promise me, O Hanuman, that whenever you bow at the lotus feet of Shri Ram in the morning, you will bow on the right side for yourself, and on the left, you will bow on
my behalf. And when you sit at his holy feet, remember that I, too, am sitting there with you. In this way, though I am far away, my devotion and my service to Shri Ram will never cease."
Such is the profound heart of a true devotee—distance can never separate them from their Lord or Guru. Even when physically apart, their only longing is to bow, to serve, and to surrender every single day through the remembrance that binds them.
