Hanuman Ji Leela – Saving Laxman & Eternal Gifts of Bhakti, Guru, and Health

Tale of Hanuman Ji – The Eternal Devotee of Lord Ram

Hanuman ji is one of the supreme Dās (servants of God) in this entire universe, a true Bhakt who offered his faith, energy, and very soul in love and devotion to his Guru and Lord, Shri Ram.

From Treta Yug to Dwapar Yug, and even now in Kalyug, Hanuman ji remains alive, meditating near Kailash Parvat on the holy name of Lord Ram. His role in the Ramayan was vital, and even today he continues to protect the earth—shielding humanity from the harsh impact of Kalyug and spreading the fragrance of devotion everywhere.

Those who chant the holy name and remember Hanuman ji become warriors of the soul in their journey to attain God. We are blessed that such a supreme soul took birth on the sacred land of India—endowed with the eight Siddhis and nine Nidhis.

Born as the son of Pavan Dev, the supreme among the five elements (Air), and Maa Anjana, one of the five divine goddesses, Hanuman ji became the embodiment of devotion, strength, wisdom, and service. To this humanity, he blessed three eternal aspects:
Bhakti, Guru, and Health.

Let us walk the path shown by Hanuman ji—the path of connecting the self to the holy name, which is the most superior path in the entire universe.

Hanuman Ji’s Leela of Saving Laxman

During the great war, when Laxman ji was struck unconscious, Lord Ram was filled with deep worry. Though he held supreme divine powers, Lord Ram, being Maryada Purushottam—the one who lives by the discipline of righteousness—chose to experience life as a human. He accepted sorrows, followed dharmic rules, and never misused his divine strength.

Like Guru Nanak Dev ji, Lord Krishna, Lord Shiva, and many Gurus who lived lives of sacrifice, Lord Ram too bore pain and grief to set an example for humanity.

Seeing his Guru and Lord in distress, Hanuman ji could not bear the sight. With folded hands, he said:
“O Lord Ram, I cannot see you in sorrow. Please guide me—what can I do?”

Lord Ram instructed him to call for a physician. Jambavan ji then revealed that the topmost Vaidya, Sushen Vaidya, lived in Lanka under Ravan’s rule.

Without hesitation, Hanuman ji crossed the ocean to Lanka, searched out Sushen’s home, and realizing that the physician would not willingly go against Ravan, Hanuman ji lifted the entire house of Sushen Vaidya and brought him back without delay.

Sushen examined Laxman and declared:
“Only the Sanjeevani herb from the Himalayas can save him.”

Hanuman ji immediately flew to the Himalayas. But Ravan’s trickster, Kalnemi, attempted to mislead him by making false herbs glow. Unable to recognize the exact herb, Hanuman ji, in his devotion, uprooted and carried the entire mountain back. From it, Sushen prepared the medicine that revived Laxman ji from near death.

The Three Mercies of Hanuman Ji

This Leela reflects Hanuman ji’s mercy and eternal blessings upon humanity in three ways:

1.      Bringing fainted Laxman to Lord Ram – Just as Hanuman ji unites devotees with God.

2.      Carrying Sushen Vaidya from Lanka – As Hanuman ji connects seekers with the true Guru, the healer of the soul.

3.      Fetching the Sanjeevani herb – As Hanuman ji grants Bhakti, the true life-force that gives purpose and meaning.

Thus, Hanuman ji blesses humanity with Bhakti, Guru, and Health—the three pillars of divine life.
